Just starting? We offer progressive month-long class series for beginners and intermediate classes for more advanced dancers.
Our monthly class structure is designed for beginner students or those with no experience to start with the Intro to Swing series, which typically starts on the first Tuesday or Thursday of January, May, and September and progresses for four months. From here, students can continue onto Lindy Hop Fundamentals, Charleston, or Balboa, which are available on an alternating schedule. Intermediate level classes are typically offered on Thursdays.
Monthly classes start at 7:00pm and are 1hr 15min long, unless otherwise noted.
Prices for pre-registered or paid-in-full at the door on first day of class:
A 3-week class series costs $30 ($25 for students or low income or veterans)
A 4-week class series costs $40 ($35 for students or low income or veterans)
A 5-week class series costs $50 ($45 for students or low income or veterans)
Individual classes are $12 at door (no discounts)
NOTE: Students will not be allowed to drop in to any class series after the 2nd class in each series. In addition, classes are capped at 25 leaders and 25 followers, and spaces are filled on a first-paid, first-served basis. Registration is not complete without payment.
We accept cash or checks made out to Providence Swings, or you may pay using PayPal online.
We encourage you to come early to give yourself time to register and/or check-in; the doors open at 6:30pm. All classes are followed by a practice session that is included in the price of the lessons. On Tuesdays, the 15 or 45 minute practice session immediately follows the class (check the schedule). On Thursdays, the practice dance affectionately known as the “Bread & Butter Jam” (BBJ) goes from 8:15pm until 11:00pm. With the purchase of a full class series, the Thursday Bread & Butter Jam is free that month. (Exception: On occasion, we have a Special BBJ with live music, which is an additional cost.)
