Brian Kinnane

I was always interested in Swing, but in the music part of it. I played the trumpet in the jazz band in high school and after graduation I joined the Army National Guard Band. While with them I was asked to play in the Big Band that they had. We would play at military balls and overseas when we were on annual training. One time when we were in the Netherlands we were playing swing tunes and this couple dressed in 1940′s attire started swing dancing. I was fascinated on how good they were and thought it looked like a lot of fun. Years later, I was asked to join a swing band. We played at weddings and other social events and once again there were couples swing dancing and having a great time. Well, a few years ago, a good friend of mine asked me if I ever thought about taking swing dance lessons. I told her I would get back to her and now, here I am on the board. I’ve met many people here that will be my friends for years to come, all while doing something I truly enjoy. If you have any doubts if it’s for you, just come by and try it.
